Liverpool have waited 30 years to become champions of England for the 19th time, and thanks to Manchester City’s defeat at Chelsea, they became Premier League champions for the first time.

With social distancing measures still in place, the club’s fans were unable to celebrate with the team, or in pubs across the city as they might have envisaged, the club paid tribute to its fans, its community and its heritage with a video to celebrate the triumph.

Others also offered their congratulations to the Reds on their triumph across social media, with the Premier League’s social media accounts posting a special tribute to the club’s success - as well as its unique city - through a poem specially created and performed by Liverpool poet Levi Tafari.

Sky Sports, meanwhile - who also posted interviews with Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish as well Jurgen Klopp and captain Jordan Henderson - took a light-hearted approach based on the 'rivalry' between pundit Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher who, according to the broadcaster, was nowhere to be seen.
