The David Cup Finals by Rakuten will take place this month, debuting a brand new format for the historic tennis tournament.
In order to explain the format of the 119-year-old competition to fans, the LTA has released an ‘explainer’ to help those unfamiliar with the format to get their heads around it.
The Finals, which take place in Madrid, will feature 18 nations taking part in a group stage before the best qualifying teams will proceed to a knockout round. The top team from each group will advance to the quarter finals, as will the two best second-placed nations.
Billed as the World Cup of Tennis, each clash between two teams will feature two singles matches and a doubles match.
