Norwich City have marked their return to the Premier League with the announcement of a new multi-year partnership with distinctive supercar brand Lotus.
In a deal that brings two recognisable names from Norfolk together again, Lotus (who are owned by Chinese firm Geely, but employ 1,200 people in the area) will become the naming sponsor for Norwich’s Colney training ground and its logo will also feature on the players’ ‘walk-out’ tracksuit tops. In an interesting twist to the deal, BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey appears to have been the matchmaker.
Simon Clare, Executive Director, Global Marketing, Lotus told the Eastern Daily Press: “Jake and I both had links with Sunseeker (a luxury yacht company) and when he knew I was coming to Lotus, he rang me and told me how he loved Norfolk, and he was the one who introduced me to Ben (Kensell, COO, Norwich City). Jake can't take all the credit but he certainly made the introduction."
Lotus, who served as the club’s shirt sponsors back in the early 2000s when the car manufacturer was under different ownership, launched the deal with a new spot featuring iconic former player Darren Huckerby and owner Delia Smith, among others.
