Ahead of the Rugby League World Cup 2021, TV presenter Simon Thomas held an in-depth interview with former boxer Ricky Hatton to raise awareness of an extensive mental fitness training programme which is being undertaken in partnership with Movember in the build-up to next year’s tournament.
The interview is the first in the RLWC2021 x Movember: Mental Fitness mini-series, which aims to offer an insight into why positive wellbeing is important for everyone. The initiative is part of the partnership between Movember and the RLWC2021, which previously launched a Mental Fitness Charter earlier in 2020.
The charter details how RLWC2021 aims to educate every player, team official, match official, teammate and volunteer to look after their own mental fitness and of those around them, as well as delivering mental fitness workshops to 8,000 young Rugby League players and their parents in the build-up to - and during - the tournament, which is set to run between 23rd October and 27th November 2021.
To find out why the mental fitness workshops we're delivering with @MovemberUK for #RLWC2021 are so important, @SimonThomasTV talked to boxing world champ @HitmanHatton to learn how he coped with highs and lows in his own career.#MentalHealthAwarenessWeek— Rugby League World Cup 2021 (@RLWC2021) May 21, 2020
