Rio Ferdinand is bringing together a group of celebrity friends in order to promote The FA’s new ‘festival of football’ THE FA FIVES.
The former Manchester United and England star has created ‘the most random football WhatsApp group ever’, bringing together five celebrities to discuss all things football as The FA seeks to promote the tournament.
Olly Murs, Chelcee Grimes, Gabby Logan and Marvin Humes are the four others taking part in Ferdinand’s five-a-side squad, which includes voice notes, selfies and videos as the group discusses everything from Liverpool’s probable title victory to the true meaning of a ‘baller’.
The content, created by sponsorship and partnerships agency Fuse, will help raise awareness of THE FA FIVES, billed as the nation’s largest and most inclusive five-a-side football event to date. Fuse also handled talent management across all the celebrities and personalities involved.
The competition is open to everyone and will run across the country in the build-up to UEFA EURO 2020. Ferdinand, meanwhile, is the governing body’s ambassador for the tournament, and as such is fronting the new participation initiative.
