The Tour de France 2020 route has been announced, with 3,470km of road and 29 mountains lying in wait for the competitors.

The event will take place slightly earlier than usual, beginning on 27th June 2020, to allow riders to also compete in the Tokyo Olympic Games. Starting in Nice, the route to the Champs Elysee in Paris will see only one stage run over the 200km mark, making it shorter than some Tours of late, with mountains and hills packed in throughout.

To highlight the announcement, the Tour de France and technology partner NTT have produced the now-traditional 3D visualisation of each of the 21 stages showing the terrain the riders will navigate and the route they will take across the country.
